David Eherts serves as Vice President, Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Chief Safety Officer for Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. He joined Sikorsky and began in this role in 2006.
Eherts began his career in 1981 as a toxicologist in the Pre-Clinical Drug Safety Assessment department at Merck Pharmaceuticals. He moved to EH&S and became Merck's Global Occupational and Environmental Toxicologist in 1990. He joined Rhone-Poulenc (now Sanofi-Aventis) in 1992 where he concurrently served as Site Director of EH&S for a 2,000-person R&D facility, as Global Head of EHS for R&D, and as Worldwide Director of Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene. Eherts rose to the position of Global Director of Industrial Hygiene, Environment and Product Stewardship at the company's U.S. headquarters in New Jersey.
Before coming to Sikorsky, he joined Purdue Pharma as Executive Director of EHS at its corporate headquarters in Stamford.
Eherts holds bachelors' degrees in chemistry and biology and a master's and doctorate in environmental toxicology from Drexel University. Eherts also serves, at the request of the US Secretary of Labor, on the Federal Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee and chairs the subcommittee on section 11c.
